The following broad areas have been selected as the fields of research in which joint project proposals may be submitted:

· Nanotechnology
· Information Technology
· Health and Medical Research
Applicants’ Eligibility
The Programme is open to scientists, engineers or faculty members regularly employed in universities and public research institutions, including hospitals and public
foundations, as well as private nonprofit institutions that develop R&D activities, in India or in Spain.
Application
The Indian and Spanish applicants must write a common application (as per the format at Annex I) that must be submitted to both DST and MICINN in parallel. The application must be written in English. Spanish applicants are also required to submit abstracts and title of their applications in Spanish to MICINN.
Duly forwarded by the host Indian institute, two copies of the project proposal along with one electronic version in MS Word format must be submitted to DST (email-
nvasishta@nic.in ). One electronic version must be submitted to MICINN by
the Spanish applicant and further formalized through the Online Application
System (see Spanish national annex).
Each project proposal must include:
a) Names and CVs of the two PIs, one from India and one from Spain.
b) Project description and work plan, including how the collaboration will be carried out, with clear statements of the roles Indian and Spanish researchers will play in
the project
c) Description of the ongoing activities and specific advantages of the Spanish and Indian groups respectively
d) Description of the expected outcome and added value of the proposed project.
e) Description of the plan for exchange/visits of scientists, technical missions or other collaboration activities within the project.
Submission of Applications
To be eligible for consideration, the joint project proposal must be submitted to both DST and MICINN so as to reach each side
by 12.00 midnight local time (respective to each country) on
31 May 2011.
Financial support
Funding provided within this call is intended to enhance project participants’ capacity to collaborate. The program is designed to support additional expenses related to
cooperation with a Spanish counterpart for an Indian researcher or with an Indian counterpart for a Spanish researcher, such as
personal expenses, consumables, small
equipment and travel and visiting costs for exchange visits. Each host institution is expected to extend basic facilities to its researchers; the proposed activities shall also be supported by the applicants’ use of their own available resources.
Financial support for the exchange visits will be as follows: the sending party will provide
round-trip economy-class airfare to the relevant entry city of the host country as well as medical insurance. The receiving side will arrange local hospitality (meals and lodging expenses) for the visitors. Host institutions must be informed in advance of planned visits in accordance with their specific regulations.
All budget items must conform to the national rules relevant to each applicant.
