Umeå University Sweden, Postdoctoral 100% in experimental connective tissue research
We are searching for a post-doc to perform experimental studies on connective tissue diseases and, in particular, to study the role of locally produced signal substances in tendon tissue pathology, with emphasis on chronic conditions (tendinopathy/tendinosis), and in corneal pathology, with emphasis on scar formation and degenerative conditions.
The project involves collaboration between researchers at the Anatomy, Ophthalmology and Sports Medicine units at Umeå University, as well as with the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. The national Swedish Research Council together with several private research foundations and Umeå University finance the project.
Qualifications:
The applicant must have doctoral degree, not more than three years old, and possess knowledge in molecular biology, biomedicine and/or bioengineering. Ample experience of molecular/biochemical laboratory techniques, in particular qPCR, is required as well as experience from work on cell cultures. Experience from work on animal models and/or flow cytometry (FACs) is considered as a strength, as is experience from work on connective tissues and fibrogenic cells. It is presupposed that the candidate masters scientific English and have good general communication skills in English (written and verbal). The applicant must be able to work both independently and as part of a team, and much focus will be given to the candidates’ potential collaborative skills.
