Netherlands Delft University of Technology Professor of Regional Transport Planning Models
As part-time Professor (12 hours per week; 0,3 fte) you are jointly responsible for research and education in the Transport and Planning section. This section focuses on the design, planning and operation of transport systems, addressing road transport, public transport and passenger and freight transport systems. Observation, modelling and optimisation are key characteristics of the research performed by the section. The section is responsible for the MSc variant Transport and Planning and coordinates the interfaculty Master programme in Transport, Infrastructure and Logistics.
You are expected to conduct research into a new generation of regional transport planning models dealing with the dynamics of multimodal transport flows in space and time, disaggregate modelling of multimodal travel patterns, and meeting requirements from practice such as scalable and transparent model architectures and quick scan models. You will actively contribute to the discussion on the role of regional transport planning models in formal planning and decision-making processes.
RequirementsYou have made a visible, active and constructive contribution to scientific research as well as the practical use of regional transport planning models for multimodal passenger transport systems. You have a track record in publications in renowned scientific journals and have been successful in acquiring external research funding. In addition, you have educational experience in transport subjects as well as in supervising PhD researchers and MSc students. Finally, you have a clear vision and entrepreneurial and leadership skills, and you are focused on results and quality.
Conditions of employmentTU Delft offers an attractive benefits package, including a flexible work week, free high-speed Internet access from home, and the option of assembling a customised compensation and benefits package (the 'IKA'). Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities.

The Transport and Planning section at CITG comprises some 60 staff members, of which 40 are employed on a temporary basis. It is the largest transport research group at TU Delft. Within the section three themes are distinguished: (1) Transport demand and supply and corresponding transport concepts, focusing on the analysis, modelling and prediction of travel patterns as a function of transport demand characteristics, logistic processes and capital investment schemes; (2) Design of transport networks and infrastructure for multimodal transport systems, focusing on the topology and geometric design of transport infrastructure; and (3) The management of traffic flows, in particular measures to improve traffic efficiency in transport systems at both a local and network level. In our research and education we closely collaborate with other departments within Delft University of Technology, and other universities in the Netherlands and abroad.Additional information
