The Corporate Research Centre, based in Nivelles (Belgium), is a group of approximately 30 people, structured by industrial applications, representing strategic markets/industries. The R&D engineers, work in close collaboration with Product Development, Business Units and manufacturing sites. The team is supported by a professional Technical Assistance and a Documentation, Patents & Licensing team. In addition, the Corporate Centre interacts closely with three smaller technical assistance and development units based in Germany, the US
and Brazil.

We are looking for an international high calibre R&D Engineer to join the Group and contribute to its continued success. Brazil, US, India, Russia, China…
Function :
- Develop knowledge and understanding of the impact of lime/dolime properties
on the iron and steel processes ( VIU)
- Cross-fertilize knowledge and know-how between the different Lhoist BUs
- Assist BUs in the implementation of new product grades for their specific market
- Provide technical support to market interface for identifying future customer needs, demonstrating VIU of LHOIST products and also customer problem solving
- Participate in standardization groups : national and European
Profile :
- Best in Class Scientific Degree Iron and Steel (Doctorate degree)
- Solid knowledge on Iron and Steel Processes including fundamental understanding (2 to 5 years)
- Field experience on steel melting process is a plus
- Creative with strong will to understand and improve practices
- Autonomous and pro-active team worker
- Able to communicate at all levels
- Multilingual. Fluent English is mandatory.

- Improve existing products ( quick limes, dolimes, carbonates and the manufacturing process)
