Development of RApid Point-of-Care test Platforms for Infectious Diseases
(RAPP-ID)
VAXINFECTIO: Within VAXINFECTIO the Laboratory of Medical Microbiology (LMM) is headed by Prof. Dr. Herman Goossens. LMM has a world reputation in studying antibiotic use and resistance, as well as on the development of molecular diagnostic solutions for respiratory tract infections; it houses research teams with expertise in molecular diagnostics, antibiotic use and resistance, and in hospital and primary care research.
TASKS:
* you will be responsible for the overall project management of the European project RAPP-ID
* you will be responsible for the management of available financial resources of this project
* you will work in close collaboration with researchers and administrative staff of LMM
* you contribute to the preparation of innovative research projects within both European and national funding channels.
PROJECT:
RAPP-IDis a European project that is funded by the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) from the European Commission (April 2011 till March 2016). The purpose of RAPP-ID is the development of a Point-of-Care Test (POCT) for the rapid detection of bacteria, mycobacterium, fungi, viruses and biomarkers in the hospital as well as in ambulatory care.
PROFILE:
* you have a degree in (bio)medical sciences
* a PhD is an added value
* you have research experience in the field of infectious diseases or medical microbiology
* capabilities in project management and relevant experience in preparing competitive scientific research proposalsis a plus
* Excellent knowledge of English is required
* you possess the necessary computer skills as well as communication skills
* you are willing to travel and a high degree of autonomy is required.
WE OFFER:
* a 100% (or 80%, if preferred) position of assistant or doctor-assistant ( depending on the academic qualifications and professional experience) for a period of 12 months, extendable up to 5 years if positively evaluated
* starting date is September 1, 2011.
