The assignment consists of lecturing duties, scientific research and service to the society. The forthcoming 5 years this assignment entails:
- The candidate is expected to expand the scientific research in the domain of applied veterinary morphology in a project that needs to be closely aligned with the research program of the Department of Veterinary sciences and especially with the research of the Laboratory of Veterinary Anatomy, Embryology & Pathology (the functional morphology of the developing gastrointestinal tract of the (mini)pig and rodent).
- The candidate is expected to acquire external funding (local, national, international) and to coach PhD students
- The candidate will be assigned lecturing duties in the bachelor program of Veterinary medicine, namely “General Veterinary Pathology” (8 ECTS, 45 u theory, 40 u practicals), “Immunology” (4 ECTS, 30u theory) and to participate in the courses related to Veterinary Anatomy (Osteology & Arthrology, 5 ECTS, 35 u theory, 15 u practicals; Clinical topographical Anatomy, 3 ECTS, 10 u theory, 20 u practicals)
- The candidate is expected to offer limited services such as to organize scientific collaborations with other research groups, organizing scientific activities, attending student fairs.
- The candidate holds a DVM-degree.
- The candidate holds a doctoral degree in Veterinary Sciences with a maximum of 6 years post-doctoral experience
- The candidate has an international CV and has acquired academic achievements in the field of applied veterinary morphology.
- The candidate has experience in macroscopic and microscopic morphology and associated techniques and preferably also experience in veterinary pathology.
- The candidate has teaching and research qualities that are linked to the policies of the university.
- The candidate has strong social and excellent communication skills.
- The candidate can teach in Dutch. A successful foreign applicant will be expected to teach in Dutch after a transition period of three year – during which teaching can be conducted in English.
- A full time position as a lecturer (US: assistant professor) in a temporary appointment in a tenure track for a term of 5 years. This position will lead to an immediate appointment as a senior lecturer (US: associate professor) if the performance is assessed favorably on the basis of previously fixed and publicly announced evaluation criteria.
